The Weekend Wanderers.

A community of enthusiastic walkers exploring nature, discovering hidden trails, and embracing the great outdoors.

The Weekend Wanderers walking along a footpath beside a yellow field.

The Weekend Wanderers started in early 2024 with a simple idea: get out every weekend, walk somewhere new, and write it down afterwards. Eight walks later, the group has grown, the boots are muddier, and the post-walk pint has become part of the routine.

We are not a hiking club with a committee or a membership form. We are friends, family, and dogs who meet at a car park on a Sunday, follow a route someone found, and see where the day takes us.

What we do

Walks around Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds, with the occasional trip further afield. Routes are usually three to fourteen miles, always include a stop for snacks, and nearly always end at a pub. Everyone walks at their own pace.

Come along

New walkers are always welcome, and nobody gets left behind (except Oli the dog, briefly). Pack a flask, wear decent boots, and keep an eye on the walks page for the next route.

How we walk

  1. 01

    Every pace welcome

Seasoned hikers and first-timers walk together. Someone will carry the snacks, and nobody gets left behind.

  2. 02

Weather is not a reason to cancel

We've walked through hail, wind, and mud. The stories are better for it, and the pub is warmer afterwards.

  3. 03

    Finish at the pub

Most walks end with a pint and a retelling of who fell over. The walk is only half the outing.
